As did I. And I'm sure that kids who do not may have challenges to deal with. But considering that reek of Axe and similar that many teens give off... who knows?

I do know that teens change and this decade's teens aren't like those from 10 years ago and sure as hell are different from when I was a teen.

If I had to guess I'd say that teens today judge each other on other things as well, such as social media presence. It's not that personal appearance/wardrobe aren't important, it's just that there are other factors that dilute the influence of any particular one.
