recommendations?

Where would you go (either physically or virtually) to buy an inexpensive small laptop with Linux pre-installed (or NOTHING pre-installed)?

Dell has a computer that comes pre-configured with Linux, but if I ordered it now I wouldn't get it until the 19th (or something like that). I need this computer by the 15th.

Acer doesn't sell anything that doesn't have Windows 7 pre-installed.

It just irritates me if, to get a computer by the 15th, Microsoft has to be paid for a crappy OS that I'm just going to delete immediately.

are you going to code on it?

would a google netbook be useful? "self repairing"...

the dells sound nice, you just need to find a vendor ... now. amazon? i seem to recall a couple online linux specialty shops. that might be a good start for a search.

Take a look at zareason.com. (I should have a first-hand review from somebody I trust in a couple of days, too.)

Looks nice, but nothing in the price range I'm looking for. (A year ago I bought a super-low-end netbook from Acer for, oh, about $300. For my purposes, it runs Ubuntu Just Fine. Looking to basically replicate that.)
