That crap is so deeply embedded in ky riarchal culture. It's why "bastard" is a dehumanizing insult implying an irredeemable character flaw. Considering some people illegitimate/illegal/subhuman is what our entire system is built on, after all, and punching down is one of the time-honored traditions that have made America "great".
(If you can't tell I am beyond fed-up and have reached the zerofox state involving bigots and their apologists / enablers. Redeeming them is above my autistic pay-grade.)
