Oh the irony...
Feb. 15th, 2008 01:22 pmRecall that I tried to use Time Machine and found all sorts of scary bugs, decided that it wasn't reliable enough and went back to using Retrospect. (Even though Retrospect is buggier than ever.) That was on version 10.5.1. My plan was to wait until 10.5.2 came out, test Time Machine on 10.5.2, to see if Apple had fixed enough of the bugs. Thus whenever I felt any twinge of annoyance at Retrospect, I would rush off to click on "Software Update..." to see if 10.5.2 was there, which meant I was checking for updates pretty darn often.
So it's funny that I found out that 10.5.2 was out, not by updating my computer, but from it being mentioned on a mailing list. Even funnier, the mailing list message was, "Hey, this is off-topic I know, but ever since I upgraded to 10.5.2, Time Machine has stopped working... Anyone know how to fix?"
Well OK then. I think I will be waiting to test Time Machine when I hear about a new release of OS X, and news of how badly it f*#@s up Time Machine is not the first thing I hear about it.
