plans for this Saturday, May 31
May. 29th, 2008 10:33 amWe will be here Saturday afternoon. If you don't know where "here" is, RSVP with some clues to me about how to find a useful e-mail address for you, and I will e-mail you directions. (Car and/or public transit directions available.) We will be serving raspberry chocolate cake at 3:00 PM. We will try to have the grill going as much as possible, although, alas, IT WILL BE RAINING. I think Rich will be a trooper about manning the grill in the rain if the lightning isn't too close, but we might need to figure out what to do with the meat inside. Show up any time after 1:00 PM (or earlier, if you want to help entertain Sophia while I tidy up). On the late end, as Rich puts it, "I don't expect there will be a 'too late' but if you want any coherent conversation you may want to come by before 7pm or so."
I am honestly oblivious of competing events. You are certainly welcome to party-hop between this and whatever else is going on. I don't expect there will be a big crowd here, so I will be food-shopping for a very pessimistic headcount unless you RSVP. That said, you can certainly come without any RSVP, but you might want to consider contributing some food in that case. Usually I would encourage people to park in the driveway, but with the garage under construction, park on the street this time. Oh yes, we have an outbuilding under construction-- I'm sure Rich will conduct tours if it's not raining too hard. Undertake reasonable precautions regarding not letting your kids drive the backhoe away, etc.
I'll be sending out e-mail (because LJ-only invitations are lame), but not to suspects, just because I'm not trying to drum up a big crowd. This isn't a super-exclusive-secret or anything so feel free to coordinate plans with anyone who might be interested.
