do not buy exabyte!
Feb. 12th, 2004 09:09 amPSA for all you sysadmin types (and other computer-
tinkerers): Do not buy anything from Exabyte, the
maker of VXA tape drives.
Their products are pretty slick, but they've
fumbled badly by contracting with a bunch of monkeys
going by the name Teleplan for service. What good
does it do to have a drive under warrenty if that
merely enables you to send the drive in for service
over and over and over? Yes, they RMA-ed it. But
meanwhile, you are doing no backups and you can't
read your existing tapes.
