Doh! I forgot to take a picture of the mother plant with my Droid phone, as I had promised hammercock. But, I found pictures of similar plants on the Internet: it's something like this one. Although, what you don't see in the picture, on the plant we know the tiny little plantlets the roots start to grow while they are still attached to the mother plant leaves. If the plant doesn't get bumped the little plants stay attached to mama so long that their little roots dry up and turn brown. I hope they can grow new roots when they finally touch soil? Anyway, Sophia and I now have a few babies in a cup of dirt, hopefully some will make it and we will have our own colony of plants budding plants.
Something to note which I found out on the Internet; the plant is quite toxic, thus not good for a household with babies or cats who might chew on the houseplants.
ETA: This picture shows the plantlets growing roots quite well.
