So the Scion "failed" inspection with a black R. The shop told me that I can get it re-inspected within 59 days for free. (I'm expecting that it will pass this time.) My question is: do I have to take it back to the same shop for re-inspection to get the re-inspection for free? My concern is that I don't know if the shop I went to before will be closed on account of Good Friday. If I take it elsewhere do I need to pay another $35?

Ugh, Bad Friday. The next step (assuming that the car passes inspection) will be to take it to the Toyota dealer to see what they say about what they would give me for it. What are the chances that the folks at the car dealers who deal with such things are all super-religious types who will be taking the day off today?

Yay, the Scion passed inspection!

Anyone want to buy it? 2006 classic boxy-style xB, manual transmission, about 120K miles, cosmetic damage to the bumpers. Kelly Blue Book thinks it's worth about $4,000 for a dealer trade-in, $3,600 for a private party sale. I'm at the Toyota dealer now, where we will soon be told just how hilariously off-base those numbers are.
