Well, ok, not obligatory, but I've found looking back at these posts very helpful.

This year our Arisia plans came together at the last minute so I didn't do much planning nor did I do special shopping for Arisia food. I aimed to keep it pretty simple. Perhaps I wouldn't have brought food at all, except that Sophia herself is learning to spend money responsibly (good kid!) and observed that the hotel lobby concession is very poor value for your money. (They* had to go through a phase of asserting their independence in this decision making to get to this conclusion. Occasionally I do do a bit of successful parenting.) So they wanted to bring the rice cooker.

We did two nights at the hotel, arriving Saturday morning and leaving Monday morning. So we had 2 lunches, 2 suppers, 2 breakfasts, and snacks.

Lunches: Lunch each day was burgers. The first time from a food truck, which was not bad but required going out in the cold. The second time from the hotel concession in the lobby out of Saucony. The hotel food service does a veggie burger that doesn't suck, which is all I expect from a random veggie burger. However Sophia complained that her burger was not very good. IT'S BEEF. HOW, HOTEL PEOPLE, HOW DO YOU MESS UP BEEF???? Good god, Soucony sucks. Has the hotel not noticed how empty their restaurant is all the time? That's because it suuuUUUUUuuuUUUUcks. Why don't they rent out that space to people who know how to run a restaurant?

Suppers: Basically rice and chick peas from the rice cooker. Added a can of chicken the first day; and also cheddar cheese and salsa. (Note: Saturday night, Sophia's supper was pizza at the kid-friendly pizza party; only on Sunday did we both have rice and chick peas.)

Breakfasts: Basically instant oatmeal (with water heated up from the in-room little coffee maker), and peanut butter. For my instant breakfast, I had measured out oat bran, and added almonds and xylitol. Sophia likes the packets of flavored oatmeal.

Snacks: Nuts, chocolate, dried fruit, little shelf-stable boxes of milk, Honest Kids juice bags.

It was a good compromise: neither all over-priced hotel food, nor all me cooking bland starchy stuff in the hotel room. Rather lacking in fresh fruits and vegetables, but we survived.

* Pronouns: Sophia would prefer to opt out of identifying with a gender role. So "they/them/their" is good if you remember. But they're used to "she/her" and not offended. Thus there may be inconsistencies.
