So, yes, I did put a dehumidifier in the basement, and plugged it in, and left it going. I didn't tarry after that. I had to be sure to pick up Vic in a timely fashion to not make
gosling and
ceo late for family obligations, plus hopefully hanging out with them before they had to go sounded more enticing than dealing with basement ick. So I didn't tarry to consider that plugging a dehumidifier in next to a big puddle on the floor is a rather expensive way to suck up the puddle in terms of kWh.
The next day it poured. I can just imagine water streaming into the basement through the fieldstone foundation (which it likes to do this time of year) and the dehumidifier working constantly to try to dry up the resulting lake on the floor.
I'll bet the dehumidifier tank is full already.
What I really need to do is try the shop-vac, and suck up as much of the water as possible. I hope the shop-vac works. I think it might be inexplicably missing its hose. Do they sell replacement hoses for shop-vacs?
