Adobe InDesign's tagged text files, when encoded as Unicode, are encoded as UTF-32.
Emacs has dozens and dozens and dozens of decoders. Try Alt-X revert-buffer-with-coding-system to see the preposterously long list. However, none of them are UTF-32!! None!!!
BBEdit also does not deal with UTF-32. If you chose an encoding, your Unicode options are UTF-8 and UTF-16.
