Does Diesel have wi-fi? (The cafe in Somerville, not the fuel.) How about outlets for plugging in my laptop?
Or is there some other place to hang out in Somerville that does not get so rambunctious on Tuesday afternoons?

True Grounds in Ball Square has wi-fi that I think is free, outlets and less noise than Diesel.

Arlington Public Library has free wi-fi, outlets and no noise, but no coffee either.

If you're willing to go to Arlington, go to Jam 'N Java (http://www.yelp.com/biz/jam-n-java-arlington). It used to be Carbury's, at the intersection of Rt 60 and Mass Ave. They have free wifi and a small parking lot. The clientele is split between laptop people and baby people, both of whom find it agreeable. They have premade salads and sandwiches, and pots of tea.

JnJ is a block from the Arlington library. You can commute back and forth as you need more quiet or more caffeine.

The Somerville Library main branch has wifi, but I haven't tried it myself. The library in Davis Square doesn't.

The True Grounds connectivity is indeed free. (The food and drinks are better than Diesel's, as well. I like it there.)
