I'm a big fan of long hair. I'd say let it grow and see how you like it. If you end up not liking it or not wanting to deal with it, getting it cut is quick.
I'd say spend some time looking through photos of yourself, perhaps looking in a mirror, and try to determine what look best makes you feel good about yourself!
That said, I think you know my preference is towards long... besides, do you really want to trim off some natural insulation now that winter has truly arrived?
Key thing - are the ends in good condition? If not, at least have it trimmed an inch or two. Even the die-hard longhair fans don't tend to notice when I have a trim (and I usually get a good 3-4 inches whacked) because it looks so much better no one misses the length. Also, once it lies right and isn't straggly, I'm more likely to wear it loose which is prettier than ponytailed.
That said, how short to go is up to you. You look terrific in short hair. But I've not really seen you with it long, so who knows how it compares. If it's not bothering you (and I know how it is when it hits a length that it's just always in the way), maybe you should try growing it out.

if you DO go for short short, you could have lots of fun dying it or doing something fun and silly in the meantime. :)
