chhotiiOne year from now, if I am not done writing the thesis, I will be frantically working on finishing the writing. I am going to want to spend as many as possible undisturbed hours per day after having my morning coffee just writing.
One year from now, I will probably (yet again) be dropping Sophia off for camp in the middle of Charlestown, Massachusetts. Dropping her off every morning, and picking up her and her friend from the camp in the afternoon.
I want to find the place that is closest (via car at rush hour) to Charlestown that meets the following requirements:
1) I can go in every weekday and work on my laptop undisturbed
2) Air conditioning
3) Free wi-fi that doesn't suck
4) Free parking all day
5) Comfortable seating
6) Quiet
MGH has been giving me free parking at their facility in the navy yard but the only reason they haven't gotten grumpy about me mooching the free parking stickers so far is that when I show up, I work very hard on their projects and attend work-related meetings. If I showed up, took a free parking sticker, and worked on my own project (which totally doesn't involve any MGH personnel or equipment), they would object. As it is, I worry that the era free parking stickers could end anyway.
Public libraries in the City of Boston probably don't have too much free parking. Probably people in Boston walk to their library, or park on the street. Parking in Charlestown is like 80% resident permit only and the other 20% is 2 hour limit.
I could go home after dropping Sophia at camp. I have air conditioning, wi-fi, and it is very quiet at home. But the Storrow Drive ramp can be nasty in the morning at camp drop-off time. And the drive back home via Memorial Drive seems unnecessarily long. Really? Seriously? I have to drive a half an hour just to have somewhere for me and my car to sit? That's an extra hour in the each day compared to if I could just stay in Charlestown.
Suggestions?
