Good news is that decking contractor had an unexpected hole in his schedule tomorrow, due to someone else's fuck-up regarding a concrete pouring, so it looks like the deck can be started tomorrow. Tomorrow! Wow!
And more good news, the tenants' plans to move out seem much more definite now. Plans for when to have the moving truck and when to load the heavy stuff.
Bad news... I have to tell the painter "don't paint next week". I've already re-scheduled him once. The painter might be pissed, and he might fire me, or he might not be available again soon enough. I might be doing a ridiculous amount of the painting myself after all, and showing the house partially unpainted, if other obstacles to trying to sell the house are resolved before I get another painter.
My realtor is going to be terrifyingly pissed off at me about this. But I have to be in Boston next week, and my suggestion to the tenant "lock up your room so the painters can paint the other part of the house without my supervision?" went over like a lead balloon. My realtor is not going to see why I can't just trample all over the tenants' rights in this regard. I just want to not spend the last few days of June in a pitched all-out battle with Mr. Privacy Tenant over my trying to sneak the painters in. I guess I'm just not mean enough to be a landlord in this capitalist system.
Well, if she actually kills me, at least this would get me out of my listing agreement with her, right?
