I am feeling really really good about the job interview I had today. I'm just what they need and I think I would enjoy working there. It seems really compellingly like the right next move.
But even if it doesn't work out, I am feeling not desperate, like I have a lot of options. There's a recruiter who has been really really pushy wanting to talk to me now now now! And this afternoon we talked. She wants to submit my resume for another object-oriented programming job in the healthcare sector in the area and she seems really really enthusiastic about my background. I'm not convinced that she will manage to infect the hiring manager with her enthusiasm. It's a bit more of a managerial role and I'm dubious.
But that doesn't have to work out. I gather through the grapevine that a biotech-ish company is musing about maybe possibly calling me for a phone screen. They just have to, you know, get around to turning the mental gears to fully consider this.
And I feel like I have a much better idea now about what kind of job to target and where to look. Starting next week I can do a much better job of job-hunting.
And maybe if none of that pans out, maybe I want to not be gainfully employed for a while, and follow up on that idea of a bioinformatics M.S.? The idea of going without income long enough to get the M.S. is kinda scary, but maybe there's more of a financial safety net than I thought. If we get health insurance through my school, it would probably be way cheaper than COBRA, cheap enough to make ends meet. So that could be exciting.
Bouncing with excitement about good things the future might hold!
