Ahhh, it's so nice to have a home, rather than be renting.

An investment, rather than an expense.

A place where I can paint the walls any crazy color I want, drill holes in the walls, dig up the yard and plant things. Or make way more drastic modifications, even-- if we can find contractors who will show up.

Nobody will ever come into my home unannounced and paint the kitchen cabinets white. What a nice, settled in, relaxing feeling of refuge from the world this gives me.

I think the best thing about owning is that *knowing* your landlord can't just up-and-sell the house at the end of your lease, giving you 30 days to move. That yearly stress was really tiresome. And if you are on a month-by-month lease because your original lease expired, you never know if your landlord will sell the house giving you a mere 30 days to move, no matter what.
