this calls for a feast

I may have mis-heard, but I think I just heard on NPR that Congress voted for a day of "humility, prayer and fasting" to support the troops in Iraq.

Fasting???

My first thought was "I don't support this war, I should mark the day by feasting."

Not that I have anything against the troops, themselves. I mean, it's not their fault. It's the fault of that idiot in the White House. So do I "support the troops"? That's difficult, it depends on what you mean by that.

But I sure wouldn't fast. And if fasting on the appointed day could be construed as support for Dubya, then I think we should mark the day with an all-out, gluttonous feast, a food extravaganza. Like the last trip to Fort & Student Price, but with political conviction. Hey, we did discuss trying their regular fare of domesticated animals, didn't we? Wiener schnitzel. Yummmmm.

Such is the insanity that break out when I have carrots for my afternoon snack.

well, from what jb posted, it doesn't sound like congress picked a day, so i sure haven't either. but further musings on a french cheese tasting have ensued. but no date yet on that, either.
