I have concluded that I don't like women's figure skating. The men are so much better. Usually I like seeing women's sports, and give them slack for not being at the men's level, as role models for women being strong and active and all that. But that's not what women's figure skaters are all about. They are all about being cute and sexy. Some of them are so skinny-- I keep thinking that they might have more power for jumps if they had some thigh muscle, rather than those anorexic twig legs. I don't like those little skirts that flip up to show their butts when they skate backwards.
And what's with that figure-skating love-fest last night? It wasn't competition, was it? So what was it doing at the Olympics?
Seriously, I would rather have seen more curling. I know, I know, with NBC practically paying for the Olympics, hell will freeze over first. Hey, there's an idea-- when Hell freezes over, then Hell can host the winter Olympics, and just have all curling all the time! I would be happy.
I don't understand the bobsled. In the 4 man bobsled, how do the last 3 guys contribute, other than it just the initial running push-off? Well, I suppose they have to jump into the sled just right, but, hmm. Yeah, I'm sure I could research this on-line, but if I'm watching at all, it's because I want to zone out in front of the TV, not be on the computer. Hint to NBC: if you want to attract women viewers, don't have your commentators assume that viewers already understand the sport.
Watching skiing is really boring.

Date: 2006-02-26 12:12 am (UTC)The figure skating love fest is tradition, at least that what they kept saying. The skaters get to show off their *talents* without the pressure of competition.
I noticed that they were letting the woman skaters wear pants (or body suits)this year, thats unusual, their costumes used to have to be to specific guidlines. The skirts had to be a certain length and they couldn't expose their shoulders (did you ever notice that many of them have skin tone fabric on the shoulders and/or sleeves.) I was suprized to see the changes myself.
I used to be a skater, I wore those little skirts that flip up and show your butt! I was much thinner then.
