Life lesson learned: If your sweetie gives you roses, keep a close watch on the water level in the vase. I think I've just found out that roses suck up water faster than any other flower. In a flash, you have crispy rose mummies. Gah, I'm so bad with living things, even dead living things.

Ah...but if you hang them upside down to dry, you have a pretty bouquet of dried flowers that require no care at all. :)

Dead roses fun

I find myself taking dried, dead flowers and arranging them artfully. Sometimes around figurines.

I plan to experiment with some by coating them with thin layers of epoxy or shellac.

Roses, especially if they smell nice, probably shouldn't be treated this way.. but for the sake of art ;)
