Aug. 31st, 2007 01:03 pmThe $1.99 bag of "yesterday's bagels" from Bruegger's is not such a good deal if they start to mold before you get around to eating most of them. :(
EDIT: OK, I realize I shouldn't disparage Bruegger's. During the recession of 1992, I nearly lived on bags of day-old bagels from Bruegger's. They are a good deal if you remember to, as pheromone suggests, slice and freeze any you don't use up within a couple of days, for later toasting. I just have to keep reminding myself, when I'm at the Bruegger's near my office and see piles and piles of bagels, of the reasons it's a bad idea to buy piles and piles of bagels to keep at my office:
1) no bread knife at office;
2) no convenient toaster at office;
3) often nasty state of refrigerator at office.

As in they were moldy when you got them??
No. I'm sure of that.
