banjos and bagpipes

On a whim, Sweetie bought a banjo. He doesn't play banjo. He's working on learning right now.

On the way back from the music store, Sweetie started talking about musical instruments that are commonly the butt of joking, such as banjos, bagpipes, and accordions. He had me cracking up with an impromptu little sketch on the subject of someone putting an amplifier on their bagpipe.

Y'know, funny you should say that. At the music store, I said "so are you going to start playing Bela Fleck tunes?" and Rich was like "oh yeah, I'll be playing just like Bela in no time. In fact, I'll be playing with Bela." But he sounded kind of sarcastic. I don't think he's that optimistic about his progress.

Find the (unfortunately now defunct) band "Rare Air" - 2 bagpipes, Bass/Guitar/Drums.
The pipes were mic'd and for very good reason.

They were fabulous...
