chhotiiMom informed BP that she was leaving on Friday, and moved out on Saturday.
On Friday, driving home to have The Big Talk, she had a sight run-in with a dump truck. Something about a flagman being ambiguous. The truck hit her car, but the police think she's at fault, that she "should have known" that the flagman wasn't giving her right-of-way. Think perhaps she was a little distracted at the time? Naaaaah.
Now, she says, her car is leaking some kind of fluid. She didn't know what kind.
Perhaps I should have rushed right down to drive her around and look after her? She's going through a rough time, she's just moved, her car might be unsafe. Didn't I buy a beautiful almost-new car so that I could be at her service in her time of need? If I just bought a car to go to OPN, and to be mobile when Sweetie has taken his car to a baseball game, then I could have bought a very very used Civic hatchback for 1/10th the cost.
On the other hand, she's sounding so courageous and self-reliant, she seems to be on top of everything. And where she's staying, surely they will help her out if her car really is unsafe to drive. And it would be non-trivial for me to pick up and go right now. I must, must, must exchange documents with my lawyer when he writes up a draft this week; I'm just putting some finishing touches, and have to demonstrate, a bit of software that the lab wants to use starting ASAP; rent and bills to take care of before I can go anywhere. So I did not volunteer to drive to NJ and be mom's chauffeur.
This morning I've been calling her cell phone, to try to talk about what kind of fluid her car is leaking. ("What color is it? What does it smell like?") Calls have been going straight to voice mail all morning. Hope she's ok.
