I, too, forgot to panic. And then someone posted something along the lines of "oh nos should we be filling our bathtubs to prepare for the Apocalypse?" and then I turned on CNN to see what the fuss was about ("OMG death from the sky!!!") and tried to consider whether I should panic. I was prodded into enough action to drag the garbage containers into the garage, as they do tend to blow away with the slightest storm, and check whether any windows are open in the house. Have not had the motivation to actually close the windows in the bedroom yet; it's hot, it will get stuffy if I do that. I'll do that when the sidewise rain ever does actually start (if ever).
Was not panicked enough to actually check on the French Toast Emergency supplies until... later than I wanted to go out to re-stock. We had T.P., eggs, milk, but very little bread, other than a couple rather stale mini-bagels. Well, we have a bread machine, and tons of yeast and bread flour. So, as long as we have power, I'll be making the bread.
Made a loaf tonight. The bread machine does not make the most interesting bread, but still, when freshly baked, any bread is somewhat interesting. It looked so lovely and crusty, I caved into temptation, and did what you're not supposed to do: sliced off a slice while it was still hot. With a tiny drizzle of honey, omm nom nom, mmm-mmmm, yum, fresh-bread happy dance.
