What's that Phil K. Dick story in which the conceit is that the world has no continuous existence-- it is repeatedly just set up a moment ago by something like a stage crew? Thanks.
I'm told the basic idea was by Descartes -- he thought the world was full-up with particles, so they couldn't get around past each other, so God had to destroy and re-create the world at each moment.
