Halloween costumes
Oct. 25th, 2015 05:59 amThis will only make sense if you've seen Equestria Girls or the sequel. Sophia wants to be... the human version of the pony version of herself. "Wouldn't that be yourself?" I asked. No. See Equestria Girls, again.
For this we need:
* a blue and green wig
* glitter to sprinkle into wig, preferably star-shaped
* yellow body paint for all exposed skin
* dramatic eye makeup (black eyeliner, mascara, a bit of shadow); lipstick
* wings with feathers
* school skirt with a cutie mark applied
The hardest thing will be to find a blue and green wig. I imagine that when we hit the costume stores, we will easily find blue wigs and green wigs, but a blue-and-green wig would be a lucky find. Ideas? Maybe Sophia will be flexible, and accept just blue. I am hoping to find such a wig with the longest hair possible. No, I do not want to Manic Panic her natural hair, because it won't look right without bleaching the hair, and I don't want to ruin her hair for years to come just for one day of costume. I assume that costume shops will have angel wings for the wings with feathers. No, we can't re-use the dragon wings (either version), because she's a pony, not a Thestral, this year. If Sophia draws a cutie mark on a piece of felt and I cut it out, how could I temporarily apply it to her school skirt? I guess I could sew it on with a quick whip stitch and it will be secure enough to last through the 31st but easy enough to remove afterwards without too much damage to the skirt.
Based on what I have to recycle in my own wardrobe, I'm thinking Sexy Witch for me. Oooh, I think this means I will just have to go boot shopping. I hope I can find a hat that is more interesting than the stereotypical witch hat. (Halloween costume shops probably just do the stereotypical version of all such things.)
