Nov. 13th, 2015 04:22 pmI need to figure out where to buy socks.
I am terribly short on socks. I have some mis-matched socks, some socks with holes, and some socks that are too long. The best socks I've bought in the past year were from Ocean State Job Lot (of all places), back in February or March. They were just perfect-- a big bag of soft, simple short socks in various shades and patterns of blue and purple. I only bought one bag, and didn't go rushing back to Ocean State Job Lot for more when I found them useful for both Sophia and myself, because I took it for granted that I would be able to find equally useful socks anywhere, anytime.
I have since tried to go shopping for socks at places like Kohl's, Marshall's, and Payless Shoes. Somehow this fails. For some reason socks are now made of synthetic fibers that feel wrong. Like these, for example, which are mostly made of acrylic. Why do they make socks out of acrylic or polyester instead of cotton? Places that athletic wear sell socks by the bag, and these ought to be practical socks, you would think; but a lot of these socks are knitted in such a way that they are supposed to provide arch support, which just seems goofy and wrong to me. I don't want socks that think they have a mission to support my arches. Please, socks, just be socks. If I need arch support, I'll look for shoes that do that.
Why am I so stumped about this?
