chhotiiDescartes was full of it when he said that the mind is a single, indivisible, unitary thing. I contain multitudes. They are about as unified as the Democrats this election cycle. The current debate:
Self-critical me: Alex, go get your car.
Self-indulgent me: What... how? There's nobody here to drive me to the dealer.
Self-critical me: So walk. You must have the time, if you were busy you wouldn't be lazing around like that.
Self-indulgent me: But it's like... two? maybe three? miles from here. And I'm tired. And it's cold out there.
Self-critical me: You're just tired because you've been lazing around all day and you haven't been getting enough exercise. If you just got going you wouldn't feel so tired. And walking there will be exercise and you'll sleep better tonight and feel less tired later on. Aren't you tired of feeling tired? And it's a lot less cold than it has been. And it's only early February. If you're waiting for it to be warmer than this, you'll be waiting a long, long time.
Self-indulgent me: *pout* I'm tired because I'm sick. And surely walking in the cold is not healthy when I have a cold.
Self-critical me: Oh you always say you're sick. It's just a dust allergy. Get up and vacuum the apartment and maybe you'll get healthier.
Self-indulgent me: *pout* Vacuum? With all this clutter in the way? That sounds less fun than walking to the car dealer.
Self-critical me: So go get your car.
Self-indulgent me: *grumble*
